I really love this hand blender. I had resisted buying one because I have a full on Vitamix blender. However I love the convenience of this hand held device and best of all, it’s cordless! I’ve used it for soups, whipping cream and small smoothies. I did try it with potatoes but really it’s not the right tool for the job(makes them gluey). Plenty of power for these jobs. Blade arm is easy to clean. A quick rinse does the job. I take it apart for storage and it fits in a drawer. A stick blender does not have the power of a stand blender but it has a enough for basic jobs.. Adjust your expectations and you will love this! — Caeles

This thing has ALOT of power and for the price you get more than what you pay for. I prefer corded appliances because you never have to worry about the battery health. Great value for the money. This is a beast of an immersion blender. It does have some weight to it but is simple to use and easy to navigate the different speeds. Clean up is a breeze. It is not huge so you can basically store it anywhere. I love that it has a cord band to wrap up and secure when not in use. It is not super loud either which is a plus. It can pulverize a ton of stuff within a short period of time, and it makes it into a true puree, not with some grit left behind. Could tell right out of the box that this blender has a much better build than the cheaper brands. I love my old one, but the blades just fell off one day and there was no way to reattach them - doubt that will be an issue with this machine. The "well" where the blades are is much more shallow than my old one too and I clean it easier. I did end up purchasing a small looped brush (think straw cleaner bent into a "U") that cleans under the blades really well, though most foods just rinse off. The only nit-picking I can do is that the blade shaft is a bit difficult to remove, though not so difficult that I'd think of going down to 4 stars. — Tina

200–600 watts are fine for most tasks like soups and smoothies. If you want to crush ice or make nut butter, look for 600 W or higher.
Immersion blenders are great for single-pot jobs and small batches, but they don’t handle large quantities or very hard ingredients as well as countertop blenders.
Look for a whisk for whipping, a mini-chopper for small prep tasks, and a blending beaker for smoothies—these expand what a stick blender can do.
